Water related hazards affect millions the world over. Population growth in flood-prone areas, coupled with climate change, continues to heighten the risks of water-related disasters. These are compounded by the growing occurrence of extreme weather conditions that further exacerbate these risks, both in terms of their frequency and severity.
In Africa and Asia, RIMES assists national meteorological and hydrological services to enhance capacity to generate and apply end-to-end early warning systems for flood, drought and tidal surges.
