Itesh leads systems research, development, and management for RIMES’ earthquake, tsunami, weather, flood, climate, and capacity building services. He guides and supervises the planning, design, development, testing, and validation of new systems, solutions, and processes that meet early warning user needs and requirements effectively and efficiently. He also leads the implementation of the regional data sharing arrangement with RIMES member and collaborating states.

Itesh has more than 10 years of experience in systems development, networking, security, and administration, with previous engagements with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (Thailand) and Mindfire Solutions (India).

Itesh holds a Master’s degree in Engineering major in Information and Communication Technologies from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand; and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering major in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Utkal University, India.

Jie Qiu, MSc
Applications Development Specialist

As Applications Development Specialist, Jie plans, designs, and develops new systems, solutions, and processes to meet user requirements.

He is an Adobe Certified Designer, and has developed software for the G.S. Energy Company and Singsian Daily, prior to his engagement with RIMES.

Jie holds a Master of Science degree in Information Management from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with major in Information System from the Rajamangala University of Technology, Thailand.

Khagendra Bharambe, MEng
Agro-Climate Decision Support System Specialist

As Agro-Climate Decision Support System Specialist, Khagendra develops GIS-based agro-climate decision-support tools that integrate forecast model outputs and bio-physical and socio-economic factors to generate pre-impact scenarios and user-friendly advisories.

Previous to working full-time with RIMES, Khagendra was a Research Associate at Agricultural Systems and Engineering Department of Asian Institute of Technology.

He holds a Master degree in Engineering with major in Agriculture from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He acquired his Bachelor’s degree in Technology major in Agriculture from the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, India.

Sujal Manandhar, MEng
Data Analytics Developer

As Data Analytics Developer, Sujal handles various meteorological data formats, develops models for reading and analyzing these data, and creates user interfaces for easy navigation.

Prior to working with RIMES, Sujal has worked with Parakhi dot com in Nepal, and with the National Electronics Computer Technology Center in Thailand.

He has a Master’s degree in Engineering with major in Computer Science from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering major in Electronics and Communication from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.

Niraj Shakya, MSc
Applications Development Specialist

As Applications Development Specialist, Niraj is involved in decision-support system development, and provides capacity building support to National Meteorological and Hydrological Services, on demand.

He has worked as Vision Graphics Lab Researcher at the Asian Institute of Technology and a Software Developer at 1-To-All Company Limited before he joined the team at RIMES.

Niraj has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the Manipal Institute of Technology, India.
