Ms. Amber Masud joined RIMES as a Disaster Risk Management Specialist and will be leading the work in Pakistan under the USAID/UCAR funded Strengthening Last Mile Communication Project. 

Amber has over 16 years of experience in Disaster Risk Management and humanitarian response work with different international organizations, including the World Food Program, Oxfam GB, FAO, UNDP, and National and provincial Disaster Management authorities in Pakistan. She was formerly working with UNDP Pakistan as Research and Reporting Officer prior to joining RIMES. She has provided extensive support to UNDP’s Disaster Risk Reduction in Pakistan portfolio which included multi-agency disaster initiatives. Through her work, Amber has provided technical support to the National Disaster Management Authority GoP (NDMA)’s Implementation Directorate, in planning and implementation of National DRR Policy and plans.

Her work at the UN included support to the Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) component of the One UN Joint DRM program in Pakistan and technical assistance to the Country Office in support of developing and implementing national level DRR and climate risk reduction initiatives. She has been part of various multiagency post-disaster emergency and recovery needs assessment missions and has supported emergency coordination and planning. Amber has a master’s degree in physical Geography, and she is passionate about nature and environmental conservation.
